The Art of a Hockey Slapshot

hockey-slapshot-sequence-gif

I approached the creation of my second GIF in the same way I did my first. Considering I had already covered baseball I also wanted to include hockey because my love for both sports is so strong. Right away I knew I wanted to create a GIF of a hockey player taking a slapshot. While the first couple frames were easily created the next few caused  some trouble as I had to find pictures that would properly fit for the next movement. At one point I made a frame and then edited it in Photoshop so that the hands and the stick were in the correct position. When I finally finished each frame and put them together it was jumbled mess. Things did not flow together whatsoever and only some of the lines would show up. When this happened I definitely had a moment of anger and frustration. Up until this point I never really experienced going through that when it came to one of my designs. However, after a few hours I was able to realize the mistakes I had made and went back to making each frame again, this time using different images for each and making sure I didn’t add any additional layers in Photoshop.

As I look back, I am satisfied with how the final product came out. I do know that with even more practice I can become better at making GIFS and will be able to make them in less time simply because I will have had more experience.
