Problem Solving. Realistic vs. Crazy Ideas

ideas all

On Tuesday November 15th, our group began creating possible ideas or solutions on how to better serve veterans at Quinnipiac. For half the class we though of ideas that were relevant and that could be put into place. Some of my ideas included Veteran Karaoke Night, Water Ballon Fight Night, and Whipped Cream Night. The premise of these ideas were to help create a community of not only veterans but students and RA’s as well. This would allow them to not only find friends within their limited group but also be able to venture outside of that realm. Many times it is easier and more comfortable if people are engaged in some sort of activity rather than just sitting together and trying to create a conversation. As a twenty one year old girl I understand how hard this can be and I can’t imagine how hard it must be for the veteran students.

In the second half of out class we were able to let loose and come up with some really crazy and quite unrealistic solutions. I found this step to be easier and more fun because there weren’t any boundaries or budgets we had to be aware of. Some of my ideas included a personal club bus where the veterans could hang out, Robot Wars, Zero Gravity Space Walk Nights, and Capture the Tank. Personally, I think Zero Gravity Night would be extremely fun but maybe that’s just me. The above illustration is a compilation of both my realistic and crazy ideas as well as some hand drawn images of the basic premise.
