Creating A Triptych

Carr_AlteredImages

In order to make this image, I had to make sure each individual picture was the same size or resolution. Once that was achieved, I made my canvas size bigger so that there would be equal amounts of negative space in between the pictures as well as around them, thus creating a frame around all of them. It was no surprise that I found the most fun and exciting part was altering the images and seeing what looked “cool” or not. For the first image I first applied a plastic wrap filter and then adjusted the setting for smoothness as well as detail. Once it looked right, I added a chrome filter to just brighten it up. My goal was to make it look like this was a coin or a bar of silver with the card engraved in it. I’m really happy how it came out. The second image I approached in the same way. I first added the graphic pen filter, adjusted the contrast, and then added the second filter called “torn edges”. I think it came out looking super cool and I think I managed to keep the contrast balanced. With the beach picture I first applied a “sprayed strokes” filter”. I found that this made the water effects to be clearer as well as brighten up the sky a bit. After that I added the “mosaic tiles” filter and I really liked how it gave the image some texture but it still managed to look like it was hand done.
